I went to Zoo Melaka with my family on mid of August 2010.
I drove about 2 hours from Puchong to there. One way toll charge was RM18.10 (from USJ exit to Ayer Keroh). As it was not a peak season, total number of visitors to the zoo was fairly less. The price for the entry ticket was RM7.00 for adult and free for children below 5 years old.
To my surprise, the zoo is well maintained as compared to the Zoo Negara in Kuala Lumpur. Lots of animals are available. My son enjoyed the most after seeing so many animals like lion, tiger, gorilla, elephants, giraffes... He shouted and laughed happily throughout the visit.
As a comparison, I prefer to visit Zoo Melaka than Zoo Negara, considering cheaper ticket and well maintained facility. My advice is not to visit the zoo during peak season like school holiday, as the traffic in Melaka is terrible.

Pulau Ketam Trip
On early October 2010, I visited Pulau Ketam with my wife and my son.
Pulau Ketam is a small town in Selangor consist mainly fisherman. I drove about 45 minutes from Puchong to South Port Klang and paid RM 3.00 for the parking fee at the jetty to Pulau Ketam. If you don't have car, you can go there by taking train (KTM). For the ferry, I paid RM 14.00 (one way) for 2 adults as my son was free of charge. The ferry took about 30 minutes to reach Pulau Ketam.
Generally, there was nothing special there unless you want to see the life of the fisherman. Initially, I thought eating seafood is cheap at Pulau Ketam but soon I realized that I was wrong. We went to one restaurant and ordered 3 dishes (2 crabs, 1 fish and vegetables) and the lunch cost me about RM88.00. It's about the same price when I order the same dishes in Klang area.
We spent less than 2 hours in Pulau Ketam and took our way back to Puchong. Overall, if you have been staying in big city for a long time, you may consider spend few hours relaxing in Pulau Ketam, but don't expect too much from the trip.
